GYSBI collaborates with ExxonMobil to unveil Guyana’s first Capping Stack
Our team collaborated with ExxonMobil to successfully showcase Guyana’s first Capping Stack to members of the media. This equipment, currently stored at GYSBI along with other Oil Spill Response materials, is crucial for responding to well blowouts. The stack functions as a “cap” to stop an oil leak until engineers can permanently seal the well.
Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana, expressed hope that the equipment will never be needed in Guyana but assured that it can be deployed within a few days if necessary.
There are only 13 such stacks worldwide.
